Your API keys never reach us

Connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. On Android it's held in the hardware-backed Keystore, where no other app can read it. It goes only to the AI provider you chose — never to us. In the Chrome extension, keys live in the browser's extension storage; we don't recommend it on shared computers.

Questions

Is my data really private?

By default, everything stays on your device in a local database — the vault, search and templates work with no internet at all. Two optional features move data: cloud sync stores your prompts in our EU database so you can reach them from another device, and Team Vaults share what you add with your team. You turn both on yourself. Your API keys are different — they never reach our servers under any circumstances, and go only to the AI provider you chose.

What happens if I uninstall the app?

Local data is removed with the app. If you've enabled cloud sync, your prompts are safely backed up and will be restored automatically on reinstall. We also recommend exporting a JSON backup before uninstalling.

Does the Chrome Extension cost extra?

No. The Chrome Extension is completely free and syncs automatically with your mobile vault when you log in with the same account. Premium features (unlimited prompts, team vaults) unlock in the Extension once you've purchased in the app.

Do I need my own API key?

Yes. Prompt Secure uses a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model. You connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. This means you pay AI providers directly at their rates — we never handle your API calls or add markup to usage costs.

Can I use it without an internet connection?

Yes. The vault, search, templates, and all organizational features work fully offline. AI features require an internet connection to reach OpenAI or Anthropic APIs. Cloud sync happens automatically when you're back online.
